Town Hall Of Schladming
Renowned hunting lodge Schladming Castle is in Austria and home to the Saxe-Coburg and Bragança Branch. It is currently known as city hall.
Hired by Prince Lus Augusto de Saxe-Coburgo-Gota, son-in-law of Brazilian Emperor Pedro II and widowed at the time, the Coburg court architect Georg Konrad Rothbart built a hunting lodge near Schladming in 1884.After the Brazilian monarchy fell in 1889, Luis Augusto’s children, Augusto Leopoldo of Saxe-Coburg and his wife, Carolina of Austria-Tuscany, started to prefer living at the castle.Schladming became the family’s principal residence in 1917.Schladming bought the castle in 1940 and turned it over to a town hall.On September 21, 2022, a monument recognizing the building’s historical ties to Brazil was unveiled before the contemporary City Hall.
Three floors make up the structure, which has polygonally oriented north porches, a central risalit, and a porch on the south tower. These architectural features conform to modern needs. The building’s façade included blind windows, plastered battlements, and colorful skylights in part tile form. English estates and palaces from the 16th to the 17th century’s architectural styles inspired its design.
The eminent painter Otto Recknagel created the inside design. Ground floor hunting chamber has been kept in its state and decorated with the artwork of the artist. On the second level of the staircase, one finds a representation of the Brazilian royal crown.
Schladming Evangelical Church
Located in Schladming, Styria, the Schladming Evangelical congregation is a Lutheran Evangelical congregation.Styrian Superintendency of the Evangelische Kirche AB Schladming consists of the Evangelische Pfarrgemeinde AB Schladming component.
Following the publication of the Josephine Edict of Tolerance in 1782, Schladming saw the founding of a separate evangelical parish including 1000 people.First serving as a place of prayer, the trading house Still, it built its own prayer house only in 1814, after the town fire. Along with a storage hall, the traders house founded a Protestant cemetery in 1834.Built in 1852 to highlight the community’s rising self-assurance to the outside world, the tower, strengthened by an encircling gallery, was built per Hieronymus Beck’s layout following the permission provided to Protestants to build churches from 1849 onwards.Once the tower was finished, the church’s building took place between 1857 and 1862. Road master Karl Ganzenberg created the plans, which were modeled by the Protestant parish church in Wels, built between 1849 and 1852.The building of the church was substantially aided by the Gustav-Adolph-Verein.Based on the Gothic style, the church’s architectural design mimics the adjacent medieval town parish church in Schladming. The organ is on the second level; galleries run along the side aisles.Like a medieval church, the construction has a polygonal chancel enlarged by two sacristy extensions to form a cross shape.
The four panels are the broken remains of a Protestant winged altar from maybe 1570. The narrow panels show St. Peter and St. Paul.The largest panels show the Brazen Serpent and the Crucifixion.Odd artwork, complex scrollwork, and inscriptions cover the panels’ reverse sides.
Comprising a 1000 seat capacity, the Schladming Church is the biggest evangelical church in Styria.
