Shopping In Salzburg

Shopping In Salzburg - Salzburg, Austria Travel Guide - By Travel S Helper

Getreidegasse is definitely Salzburg’s most popular shopping street. Nestled in lovely old buildings, visitors can find a variety of well-known stores, cafes, and confectionaries. Getreidegasse is a great place to visit for people who enjoy designer clothing and accessories; for example, it now features a sizable Louis Vuitton shop. One special feature of the retail strip is that every store signboard has to be created in a historical fashion according municipal rules. Many people go to the street not so much to buy expensive items but rather to capture images of the quite beautiful street.

Established in 1884, Fürst is a well-known café and confectionary situated on the prominent ancient street. This chain runs several candy stores all around the city these days. One can get sweets created from traditional recipes, including the well-known kugel candies, here. Inside the confectionery, in a big hall, are tables. Guests are welcome to taste samples of the delicacies that have caught their eye prior to making a purchase. Fürst has a fantastic assortment of gift sets with chocolate and sweets, thus it’s a great place to view incredible things for friends and family.

Not far from Salzburg Airport is yet another fantastic place to shop. A big shopping center called Designer Outlet draws smart consumers looking for reasonably priced designer goods. The mall carries well-known shoe and clothing brands. Any season would be worth visiting Designer Outlet. Apart from hundreds of well-known boutiques, there are several restaurants and cafés as well as an ice skating rink all year long.

The Europark shopping complex offers visitors more than a hundred companies with a range of specialties. Apart from clothes, accessories, and shoes, it’s a great place to buy fragrances and makeup as well as unique house décor pieces and souvenirs. The retail center is linked to the Oval Cultural center, thus guests can relax from clothes shopping and enjoy entertaining activities including concerts and performances. Families with children will adore the playground and several kid-friendly attractions of Europark.

Should none of the companies listed above seem to fit your requirements, you could wish to investigate ZiB. This two-story shopping center hosts many well-known shoe and clothes stores. You could find great books, athletic wear, and chic accessories here. Purchasing locally produced goods would be ideal from a large supermarket ground floor of the building. Many people visit ZiB mostly to eat at the Greek restaurant housed on the second floor of the building.

Make sure to stop by the Höllrigl bookshop as you are touring the city’s ancient area. Visitors of this oldest bookshop in the city can easily locate all of the best-selling books there as well as a variety of fascinating travel-related souvenirs. Among other traditional gifts, Höllrigl provides a range of tour guides together with a list of the top sights in the region and beautiful postcards and calendars.

Shopping Malls In Salzburg

Salzburg has two national retail complexes: the Europark close to Taxham and the stores in the old town (2005 sales: 206 million euros). Based on turn-over per square meter, the Europark is Austria’s most successful shopping mall. Apart from that, it was the first retail center in Austria to take home the 2007 ICSC prize for best shopping center worldwide.

Among the regional centers are Zentrum Im Berg (ZIB), covering the station area (56 million) and the 66 million nearby area. In Salzburg, including local retail complexes, annual sales of EUR 909 million were reached over a sales area of 217,514 m2. Regional centers are the shopping arena Alpenstraße, formerly Shopping Center Alpenstraße (SCA with a 135 million euro turnover) and the 56 million-euro station area.

Europark Salzburg

The Taxham area of Salzburg, Austria, houses the retail complex known as Europark. Among the most important commercial hubs in the federal state, it employs roughly 2,000 people in about 130 stores. Beyond Salzburg, the catchment area of the Europark spans surrounding federal states including Bavaria.

Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas designed the front facade and roof wave as well as the forecourts and green areas of the building. Early 1994 saw an architects’ evaluation process decide his Europark design as the winner. Before opening on September 24, 1997, the construction took thirty months of work. Designed by Massimiliano Fuksas, “Europark II,” opened on October 7, 2005 following a 21-month building phase.

Not far by are the Salzburg Taxham Europark S-Bahn station (S2, S3, and Regionalexpress) and the Salzburg-Kleßheim motorway exit (A1, closest link to the A10 and the German BAB 8). Five trolleybus and autobus lines—numbers 1, 9, 12, 28, and 34—stop just in front of or close by the entrance. Beside the shopping mall is a bike path. Though far from Taxham, the Europark is in the western part of the city and boasts first-rate access to transportation.

Shopping Arena Alpenstrasse - Salzburg, Austria Travel Guide

Shopping Arena Alpenstrasse

The southernmost point of Salzburg, Austria, houses the retail center Arena Alpenstrasse. It was formerly called Shopping mall Alpenstrace, SCA.

Originally opening on April 26, 1990, it was the first of its kind in the city. With 13,000 square meters of retail space overall, it was split over two sections to the left and right of Alpenstraße. Originally, an above-ground link between the two sub-buildings was planned but not approved. Rather, a subterranean shopping mall was built.

Space restrictions caused the SCA’s relevance to drop in 1997 when the Europark opened west of the city. An architectural firm presented conversion ideas around 2000, but they never were implemented. Ownership changed eventually in 2008.

The designs called for totally demolishing Alpenstraße 114’s western section and transforming the eastern section. The ground-breaking ceremony took place in April 2012; the completion of the new building—estimated to be worth 60 million euros—occurred in the spring 2015. The design advisory board of Salzburg approved the expansion to 24,000 m2 in spring of 2011. There is also a 720 space multi-story parking arrangement.

The name became Shopping Arena with the reopening. Silberball based on Bregenz developed the word-picture mark and logo. Apart from several business sites, there are gourmet restaurants and other services as well as kid- and adult-friendly events. Starting publication with the autumn 2015 edition, Shopping Arena Live is an internal customer magazine.

On the plaza front of St. Andrew’s Church, a market known as the Salzburg Schranne takes place every week. Every Thursday, local businesses from the city and surrounds gather to present a variety of regional foods, beautiful flowers, and handcrafted products.

Fronting the Andräkirche, a “weekly market for rural products” was founded in 1906. Apart from the Naschmarkt and Brunnenmarkt markets in Vienna, the weekly Salzburg market ranks among the largest and most well-known ones in Austria. Five in the morning farmers, producers, and food vendors start presenting a great range of mouthwatering cuisine at fair rates.

In the summer, plants and flowers are much sought for. If you’re hungry, we advise considering some delicious options including a flavorful transparent fish soup, a succulent rotisserie chicken, or a classic Salzburg snack from a neighborhood sausage station. The main products on show at the 190 market stalls in the winter are Advent wreaths and “Palace Bushes.”

Mothwurf Store Salzburg - Salzburg, Austria Travel Guide
Folkwear Shop In Salzburg

Mothwurf Store Salzburg

Mothwurf, an Austrian family company with long history, now resides at the Getreidegasse. Modern elements and cuts mix with the almost 250-year legacy of traditional costume makers.

The Mothwurf family started their textile company in 1770. Stefanie and Helmuth Schramke launched Mothwurf Company, Austrian Couture, in 1988. The designs have always given traditional attire great importance, which is constantly reinterpreted with modern ideas.

Mothwurf stresses gender a lot. The skirt—available in every collection in a range of forms, colors, and lengths—is the central concept. In 2008 Stefanie Schramke designed the pleated, knee-length swing skirt sometimes referred to as the “Sisi”. It differs from other designs. It was so well received at the time that it has stayed a staple component of every collection ever since. Classic Mothwurf designs call for dresses, dirndls, form-fitting blazers and blouses, and slender pants.
