When the Casino Salzburg at Schloss Mirabell opened in 1935, it added another draw to Salzburg. Fans of “games of chance” from all over the world were mesmerized by the mysterious gaming tables. The casino was quickly moved to the larger space of Café Restaurant Winkler on the Monchsberg because of the high demand. In 1993, there were more games to choose from, and the casino was briefly moved to Schloss Klessheim. People came to the “temporary” spot in such large numbers, though, that the people in charge decided to leave the casino right where it was.
Since 2016, when major repairs were made, the casino has been a beautiful place for people to visit. Several of the gaming areas have been completely redone, as well as the casino lounge, the Weekend Casino, and the events bar on the ground floor. The expanded diner has a lot of room to relax and serves delicious food to attract customers.
