Districts & Neighborhoods in Rauris
Rauris consists of 14 districts:
- Rauris: Here is the main community and the seat of authority of the commune. Perched on the banks of the Rauriser Ache river, it rises to an altitude of 950 meters. In addition to a historic market square, a parish church and a regional history museum, it includes several hotels, restaurants and shops. Featuring chairlifts and a cable car system, the Rauris ski area lies in the hills above the settlement. Not far away is the Rauris Raptor Center, where visitors can observe and learn about raptors. Rauris includes Marktrevier, Schöneg, Rettenegg Alpswald, Klingalpe and Vorstandrevier.
- Wörth: This small village, at an altitude of 980 meters, is located 4 kilometers south of Rauris. Its wooden chalets and its natural swimming pond are well-known features. There are many hiking and biking trails throughout the valley that start here. Three communities make up Wörth: Wörth, Lohning and Lohningbauer.
- Bucheben: Bucheben is an area with an altitude of 1,100 m located about 8 kilometers south of Rauris. With trees and meadows all around, it is a calm and beautiful area. It houses a chapel, a guest house and various farms. Bucheben includes the districts Gaisbach, Bucheben and Gaisbachbauer.
- Seidlwinkl: Rising to an altitude of 1,200 metres, this area is approximately 10 kilometers south of Rauris. Historically a stop on the ancient salt trade route, the region is rich in history and culture. In addition to a traditional inn, it houses a pilgrimage church and a museum. Seidlwinkl includes the areas Hüttwinkl, Hüttwinklbauer and Seidlwinkl.
- Kolm Saigurn: At the head of the Rauris valley, Kolm Saigurn is a commune located at an altitude of 1,600 meters. Hidden and beautiful, the area is surrounded by the peaks of the Goldberg Group, including Hoher Sonnblick (3,106m), home to Europe’s highest weather station. For ski tourers, snowshoe hikers and mountaineers, it’s a wonderland. It is home to a national park house, a nature walk, and several mountain cabins. Kolm Saigurn is made up of the districts of Kolm Saigurn, Ammererhof and Naturfreundehaus.
- Worth: About five kilometers north of Rauris, this area is 1,000 meters above sea level. Views of the 3,122 meter Schareck summit abound from this bright and peaceful neighborhood. It has a golf course, tennis court and various guest houses. Worth includes the districts Schattbach, Schattbachbauer and Worth.
- Vorstanddorf: Located about 7 kilometers north of Rauris, Vorstanddorf lies at an altitude of 1,050 meters. There are several farms and meadows in this traditional rural area. It requires a chapel, a school and a playground. Vorstanddorf includes Vorstanddorfberg, Vorstandrevier and Vorstanddorfheim.
- Schwarzenbach: Rising to 1,101 meters above sea level, Schwarzenbach is located approximately 9 kilometers north of Rauris. In this secluded, wooded area there is a stream and a waterfall. It houses a guest house, a campground and various cabins. Schwarzenbach includes the areas of Schwarzenbach, Schwarzenbachbauer and Schwarzenbachalm.
- Fröstlberg: At 1,150 meters above sea level, Fröstlberg lies about 11 kilometers north of Rauris. It is in a high and exposed position with a wide perspective over the valley and the mountains. There are a few farms and a ski lift. Three areas make up Fröstlberg: Fröstlberg, Fröstlbergalm and Fröstlbergbauer.
- Lamm: Rising to 1,200 meters, this area is approximately 13 kilometers north of Rauris. In this quiet and picturesque place there is a lake and a chapel. It houses a guest house as well as a few farms. Three districts make up Lamm: Lammbauer, Lamm and Lammalm.
- Embach: Located approximately 15 kilometers north of Rauris, this area is 1,250 meters above sea level. This pleasant and sunny neighborhood is home to a church, a store and a school. In addition to several farms and guest houses, it has a ski slope. Embach has three districts: Embachberg, Embachbauer and Embachau.
- Hundsdorf: Situated at 1,300 meters above sea level, Hundsdorf is a district about 17 kilometers north of Rauris. In this small, peaceful area there is a bakery, a chapel and a museum. In addition to numerous farms and guest houses, it has a cross-country ski trail. Hundsdorf is made up of three areas: Hundsdorfberg, Hundsdorfbauer and Hundsdorf itself.
- Lend: Rising 1,350 meters, this area is around 19 kilometers north of Rauris. In this energetic, modern community there is a post office, a town hall, and a bank. There’s a rail station, lots of retailers, restaurants, and housing choices. Lend includes Lend, Lendbauer, and Lendberg as neighborhoods.
- Taxenbach: About 21 kilometers north of Rauris, this area rises 1,400 meters. It is a historically important and cultural area with a castle, museum, and church. Apart from a bus stop, it presents a lot of attractions, activities, and events. Three areas make up Taxenbach: Taxenbach, Taxenbachbauer, and Taxenbachberg.
