Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer

Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer is a municipality in the Pinzgau region of Salzburg, Austria. With a population of 2,245, it lies about five kilometers east of Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer.

Known for winter tourism, Maria Alm is particularly associated with the High King Mountain ski area. This ski area is proudly part of the Ski Amadé network, which has existed for 28 years. These ski resorts together constitute the largest alpine ski area in Europe.

Besides downhill skiing, Maria Alm offers many facilities for different outdoor activities. These include mountain biking, climbing, hiking, cross-country skiing, golf and tobogganing. About 400 meters from the city center, at the foot of the Alps, is the Sommerstein swimming pool. Among its many facilities are a 40-metre water slide, a water flume and several swimming and play areas especially for young children. An open, grassy area surrounds the pool, making it perfect for sunbathing. The pool also has lockers with changing rooms and an indoor and outdoor snack bar.
