The Roman Catholic Church of St. Vid
Built in the Middle Ages, this church is one of the oldest buildings in Lutzmannsburg. Built on the remains of old Roman buildings, it was first the church of the castle of the local lord Ispanság. Over the centuries, the church has undergone several renovations and reconstructions that reflect many architectural styles. The church has a Baroque choir, a Gothic nave and a Neo-Gothic high altar. Also baroque, the side altars have paintings of saints and biblical scenes. Completed in the 18th century, the church tower has a clock and an arched dome. Manor Castle
Once the residence of the Ispanság, who governed Lutzmannsburg and the surrounding area, the castle was located on a hill, the castle stood next to the Kirchberg church – now a cemetery. The Turks destroyed the castle in the sixteenth century; now only a few traces of the ramparts remain. However, many fascinating discoveries have come from archaeological excavations including Roman tiles, iron and the foundation walls of various buildings. Back in the 18th century, the castle stood with a gate tower guarding the western entrance. The later demolition of the gate tower resulted in the occupation of the folk school.

An unusual and curious monument to Pelenger stands on the main square in Lutzmannsburg. Attached to a metal ring and chain, this is a stone pillar. In the Middle Ages, the pelenger was a judicial tool. Minor offenses including slander, fraud, or theft were chained to the pelenger and subjected to public humiliation and ridicule. Pelenger also represented city rights and autonomy granted by the king. One of the few forms of punishment still used in Europe, the pelenger is a historical and cultural legacy of Lutzmannsburg.
St. Joseph’s Column and the Holy Trinity Column
On the main street in Lutzmannsburg, these two columns – beautiful displays of Baroque art and sculpture – stand out. Built as an expression of gratitude and loyalty at the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century, they were made in 1698 to mark the end of an epidemic that ravaged the city, the column of St. Josip is holding the young Jesus, on the pillar is the monument of St. Josip, patron of Lutzmannsburg. There are four smaller sculptures of saints on the column, as well as a pedestal with angels and cherubs in relief.
