Lutzmannsburg

Lutzmannsburg is a small village in the Oberpullendorf district of the beautiful Austrian province of Burgenland.

The construction of the thermal bath in Lutzmannsburg resulted in a comprehensive infrastructure. This growth has turned the former rural town into one of Burgenland’s most popular tourist destinations. In 1995, non-residents could only find 98 guest beds. About 6,000 overnight stays were recorded that year. But there was a significant increase – 1,926 guest beds by 2007. In 2006, 232,850 overnight stays were recorded. Visitors stayed an average of two and five days. Many day visitors also visit the thermal baths.

This development resulted in a significant change in the municipal budget, which started with 1,031,228 euros in 1995 and increased to 1,718,300 euros in 2007. Moreover, the ratio of tax heads increased from 469.39 euros in 1995 to 755.00 euros in 2000.

The construction of thermal baths helped the growth of business and employment opportunities. In comparison with the censuses from 1991 and 2001, 48 instead of 25 jobs were observed. When the number of employees is taken into account, it makes more sense because it grows from 78 to 227. Of these, 68 were employed in the hotel and catering sector, 26 in trade, and 68 in the provision of other personal and public services. Although precise statistics are not yet available, the number of offices and workers has gradually increased since 2008.
