History of Waldbad Enz

Waldbad Enz was founded in 1928 by the Dornbirn Workers’ Association, who wanted to create a recreational facility for the working class. The name Enz comes from the nearby Enz waterfall, which was used as a source of water for the pool. The original pool was made of concrete and had a capacity of 600 cubic meters. It was surrounded by wooden cabins, a changing room, and a kiosk.

Over the years, Waldbad Enz underwent several renovations and expansions to meet the growing demand and improve the quality of service. In 1956, a second pool was added, and in 1964, a third pool was built. In 1978, the pools were converted to stainless steel, which reduced the maintenance costs and increased the hygiene standards. In 1986, a sauna was installed, and in 1992, a beach volleyball court was added. In 2004, a fourth pool was constructed, and in 2012, a new café was opened.

Today, Waldbad Enz is one of the most popular and attractive swimming pools in the region, attracting over 100,000 visitors per year. It is managed by the Dornbirn Sports and Leisure Facilities GmbH, a public company that also operates other facilities such as the ice rink, the indoor pool, and the ski lift.

Waldbad Enz has four pools of different sizes and depths, suitable for different ages and abilities. The largest pool is 50 meters long and 21 meters wide, with a depth of 1.8 to 2.2 meters. It is ideal for swimming laps, diving, and playing water polo. The second pool is 25 meters long and 12.5 meters wide, with a depth of 0.8 to 1.8 meters. It is perfect for relaxing, splashing, and learning to swim. The third pool is 12 meters long and 8 meters wide, with a depth of 0.4 to 0.8 meters. It is designed for children and toddlers, with a slide, a fountain, and a mushroom-shaped sprinkler. The fourth pool is 8 meters long and 4 meters wide, with a depth of 0.3 meters. How to Get to Waldbad Enz

Waldbad Enz is located at Gütlestrasse 16, 6850 Dornbirn, Austria. You can get there by car, by bus, by bike, or by foot.

By car: You can take the A14 motorway and exit at Dornbirn Süd. Then follow the signs for Gütle and Waldbad Enz. There is a parking lot near the entrance, which costs € 2.00 per day.
By bus: You can take the bus line 1 or 2 from the Dornbirn train station and get off at the stop Gütle. Then walk for about 10 minutes along the river until you reach Waldbad Enz.
By bike: You can follow the bike path along the Dornbirn river, which leads you directly to Waldbad Enz. There are bike racks near the entrance, where you can lock your bike.
By foot: You can walk from the Dornbirn city center, which takes about 30 minutes. You can also walk from the Rappenlochschlucht, a scenic gorge, which takes about 15 minutes.
