Villach Vehicle Museum

The Villach Vehicle Museum is located in an industrial area, close to the main railway station. It occupies a spacious hall of 2000 square meters, where more than 260 vehicles from 1927 to 1990 are displayed. The museum tells the story of the dreams and visions of mobility that shaped the post-war era, when everyday vehicles became the oldtimers of today. The collection includes cars, motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, bicycles, tractors, and even a fire engine. Some of the highlights are a 1938 Mercedes-Benz 230, a 1955 Porsche 356, a 1967 Jaguar E-Type, and a 1989 Ferrari Testarossa.

The museum also features a restoration workshop, where visitors can see how old vehicles are brought back to life. In addition, there is a radio museum with over 1000 devices on 200 square meters, ranging from crystal radios to transistor radios to modern stereo systems. And the newest attraction is a watch museum with a watchmaker’s workshop, where visitors can learn about the history and mechanics of timekeeping. The museum is certified as a service center for several prestigious watch brands, such as Omega, Longines, Rado, and Tissot.

The Villach Vehicle Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The admission fee is 8 euros for adults, 6 euros for seniors and students, and 4 euros for children. The museum also offers guided tours for groups, as well as special events and exhibitions throughout the year. The museum has a café where visitors can enjoy snacks and drinks, as well as a souvenir shop where they can buy model cars, books, posters, and other memorabilia.

The Villach Vehicle Museum is a must-see for anyone who loves cars, motorcycles, radios, or watches. It is a fascinating place to explore the history and evolution of technology, as well as the culture and lifestyle of the 1950s and beyond. The museum is a perfect destination for rainy days, as well as for groups and families who want to have a fun and educational experience in Villach.
