Scout Salute Statue

The “Scout Salute” is not only a symbol of scouting but also a true work of art. The statue was officially unveiled on January 17, 1998, during the opening of the 30th Scouting Forum.

After a few years, the statue was relocated to the bandstand. The “Scout Salute” is a steel sculpture that stands at a height of 2.4 meters. It was designed by Kaj Rugholm from Denmark and crafted by Josef Doppler from Salzburg.

The “Scout Salute” held special meaning for participants at the 30th Scouting Forum in Grossarl. Each raised finger symbolized a decade of the European Forums that had taken place in Grossarl. The palm of the hand, along with the little finger and the thumb, come together to form a circle. This highlights the worldwide significance of the scouting movement and the Scouting Guild, which selected Grossarl as a meeting hub on 30 separate occasions.
