The Rochusmarkt, spanning approximately 3,500 square meters, is home to 40 market stalls and ranks among the most popular markets in Vienna. Customers are provided with a delightful culinary oasis. Adjacent to the market, there is a charming shopping street that beckons you to leisurely wander along its vibrant storefronts. The Rochusmarkt was previously exclusively dedicated to the sale of flowers. The Rochusmarkt had an important trade route as early as 1192. In the late 18th century, the Augustinermarkt underwent significant development. The current market was designed and rebuilt in 1988.
Rochusmarkt is located in Vienna’s 3rd district, specifically on Landstraße, and it occupies a charming square that is open and bathed in sunlight. During the 12th century, this location held significant importance as a trade route. Since approximately 1786, it has been home to a flower market that has evolved over the centuries to become the familiar place we know today. At Rochusmarkt, flowers make a lasting impression from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. The market has a small collection of permanent and temporary stands where you can find a variety of fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, and a specialty cheese store. Additionally, it offers a wide range of lunch options, including Turkish, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Austrian, and the renowned Rochus Würstelstand. Mostly, you will find residents of the area stopping by to pick up groceries or enjoying the ambiance in one of the gardens of the local restaurants or cafes.
