Red Cross Museum Salzburg

In 1929, the first ambulance museum in Europe was established in Salzburg. It was devastated during the bombings of Salzburg in 1944 and reopened in 1979.

Featuring equipment and documentation from the company’s early days to the present. A stretcher on wheels from the turn of the century is an uncommon sight. The collection now includes eleven historic cars dating from 1960 to the present. A collection of films gives an inside look at life at the Red Cross.

The museum’s main attraction is a collection of 12 antique, roadworthy rescue vehicles. These may be seen at the Elixhausen division of the museum. It is necessary to make a reservation!
