Pfarramt Steyr Tabor The Roman Catholic parish church is in the district of Tabor, municipality of Steyr, region of Steyr-Stadt, Upper Austria. It is dedicated to the Holy Family and is part of the Deanery of Steyr in the Diocese of Linz.
With the exception of the Tabor barracks, the area of today’s parish was mostly agricultural until the Second World War.Several residential structures and a barracks camp were built during the conflict. There was no church in the beginning.Services were conducted in Block XXII (22) of the old barracks from 1953 to 1962, in a barracks chapel on the barracks grounds from September 1962 to the end of March 1967, and in a residential room until 1974.The Tabor pastoral care facility was created by Steyr architect Helmut Reitter in 1970.When building began in 1972, the vicarage and rectory were the first to be built.Beginning in 1974, services were held in the massive parish hall. That same year, Auxiliary Bishop Alois Wagner laid the foundation stone for the church, which was dedicated on November 9, 1975, by Bishop Franz Zauner. It has been a parish church since January 1, 1978, and it was formerly part of St. Michael’s parish. He is interred in Tabor Cemetery.
