Parish Church of Braunau-St. Francis

The Braunau-St. Francis parish church is located in the Neustadt district of Braunau am Inn in Upper Austria. It is dedicated to the patron saint Francis of Assisi and is affiliated with the Roman Catholic denomination. Starting from January 1, 2023, Braunau-St. Francis will be officially acknowledged as one of the 14 sub-congregations operating within the Braunau parish. This parish falls under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Linz.

The cooperative branch Braunau-St. Francis was established in early 1971 through a collaboration with the Capuchin Fathers of the North Tyrolean Province. The construction of the parish center began in 1974 and was consecrated on May 2, 1976, by Auxiliary Bishop Alois Wagner. In 1979, the Capuchins left Braunau and the Diocese of Linz took over the parish. The Salvatorian College Braunau-St. Francis was founded in the autumn of 1982.In the beginning of 1985, the Braunau-St. Francis parish underwent a process of outsourcing, which ultimately led to its independence. The Salvatorian College stopped operating around 1997. The parish center was completely renovated in 2000/2001.

In 2002, a decision was made to include a previously abandoned church in the project. In order to achieve this goal, an artist competition was organized to transform the parish hall into a dedicated church service room. In 2003, the worship room was redesigned based on the concept of Katharina Struber and Ursula Witzany.
