The Palais Kellersberg, also known as Kellersberg’sches Stadthaus, is situated at 14 Sackstrasse in the Inner City district of Graz.
The Palais Kellersberg was constructed in approximately 1728 by combining two town houses located on Sackstrasse. The building’s core can be traced back to the 15th and 16th centuries. In the early 1900s, the premises of the Reform dining house belonged to the Good Templars organization.
The long facade features overhanging arches supported by corbels, which were uncovered in 1963.The foliage and bandelwerk ornament dates back to the years 1740/45.Each of the two arched stone portals is adorned with a mascaron keystone. The entrance to the right portal has been transformed into a shop. The eastern courtyard wing features three-storey columned arcades, although the ground floor of these arcades is currently walled up.The Pawlatschen originated in the second quarter of the 18th century. You can access the first floor from the lunette-vaulted ground floor by using a staircase that dates back to the 15th century.
The 18th-century carved overdoors, late Gothic ridge vaults on polygonal pillars, an Empire tiled stove from 1810/15, and some stucco plafonds on the first floor are notable attractions that are worth seeing. The second floor is adorned with ribbon and foliage stucco decorations as well.Additionally, there is a rocaille skylight grille made of wrought iron dating back to the third quarter of the 18th century.
