The Museum of Modern Art Carinthia (MMKK) is situated in the heart of Klagenfurt, Austria. It is housed within the historic Klagenfurt Castle, which was formerly known as the Carinthian State Gallery.The exhibition area spans approximately 1000 square meters and showcases modern and contemporary art.

The Carinthian Museum of Modern Art is known for its diverse collection.The purpose of the house is to collect, preserve, research, document, and promote modern and contemporary fine art.

The MMKK showcases artist positions from various regions, nations, and even internationally through both individual and themed exhibitions.The castle chapel, adorned with frescoes created by the renowned Carinthian Baroque painter Josef Ferdinand Fromiller, is open for artists to utilize as a project and installation space.

One area of focus is the state of Carinthia’s own collections.The collection features artworks by renowned artists from the 20th and 21st centuries, including Hans Bischoffshausen, Kiki Kogelnik, Maria Lassnig, Hermann Nitsch, Arnulf Rainer, Hans Staudacher, as well as representatives of the younger generation, Heimo Zobernig and Hans Schabus.
