This privately owned, non-profit museum displays Prof. Dr. Heinz R. Böhme’s amazing collection. The collection, which now numbers over 450 works, depicts the lives of artists who were labeled “degenerate” during the National Socialist era, were persecuted, and are mostly forgotten today.
Neue Arbeiten from the Böhme Collection The artists of the Lost Generation, like so many other artists, were censored, persecuted, and murdered by the National Socialist administration because they were ahead of their time’s zeitgeist. As a result, unique personalities and works of art were left behind and lost throughout history. The Museum of the Lost Generation’s goal with this exhibition is to showcase the life’s work of those who were not recognized during their lifetime. Discover the expressive works of a distinct generation that refused to be labeled as “degenerates” and instead made their mark on cultural history.
