Mirabell Palace Church

The Mirabell Palace Church is located just opposite to the main entrance to Mirabell Palace.

The palace church, together with the big marble staircase and the spectacular marble hall, is one of Mirabell Palace’s features. The palace chapel emanates regal beauty, with walls totally coated in marble stucco and entirely decorated in white and gold. The majestic high altar (1722) is composed of grey and pink marble and rises all the way up to the dome.

In 1606, Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau erected Mirabell Palace, which included a church. The foundation for today’s church was laid during substantial renovations in the 1720s. The chapel was largely damaged in the town fire of 1818 and had to be rebuilt.
