Maria Landskron Parish Church

Maria Landskron Roman Catholic parish church is located in Landskron, Carinthia, in the municipality of Villach.Herz Mariä parish church is part of the deanery of Villach-Stadt in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt.

The parish’s initial seat was St. Ruprecht am Moos.Landskron’s modern parish building was erected from 1955 to 1969, and the parish seat was relocated here in 1956.

The church, designed by architect Herzung and master builder Klemens Klinger, was completed in 1967 and dedicated the following year.

The parish was renamed Maria Landskron from St. Ruprecht am Moos in 1984.

The great northern hall building is a concrete frame structure with a southwest tower.Daniel Moser produced the window glass, which was considerably reduced in form, in 1998. The window with the theme of Maria, the knot-loosing woman, is stunning.

The sanctuary was developed in collaboration with architect Alfons Nessmann.The statues of a 12th-century Romanesque Christ and a Gothic Archangel Michael came from the St. Michael branch church.
