Leopoldskroner Weiher

The protected local recreation area surrounding the Leopoldskroner Weiher lake south of the Mönchsberg is an enticing site in Salzburg to enjoy a quiet stroll.

The lake’s coastline offers spectacular views of Salzburg’s natural splendor against the backdrop of the world-famous Leopoldskron Palace, Hohensalzburg Fortress, and the Gaisberg mountain. The lake, which is around 650 meters long and 220 meters broad, is home to a variety of species, including ducks, swans, grey geese, carp, pike, and frogs. Because the city parks department maintains this area all year, swimming and ice skating are not permitted in the summer or winter.
