Lasserhof

The Lasserhof, also Metzgermayerhof, Hotel Kaiserhof, Rupertihof, Schlosshotel St. Rupert, and the Gwandhaus, is a palace on Hellbrunner Allee in Salzburg. It now serves as the headquarters of the costume company Gössl, as well as a costume museum and a restaurant.

The courtyard, like the adjoining courtyards on Hellbrunner Allee, was established before 1650 and was formerly known as Lasserhof. The castle was initially owned by the Dückher family, and then by the Counts of Martinitz beginning in 1677.After Prince Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun established the Ruperti organization of Knights, which was tasked with fostering the “education and rewarding of good warriors from the Salzburg landed nobility,” he also gave this court to the organization.

The order’s highest-ranking officials were sworn to celibacy.Only when the knightly order was abolishedThe land was returned to private ownership in 1811.In 1834, Peter Poschacher is listed as the owner; in 1867, Rupert Freiherr von Imhof purchased the property and gave it a neo-baroque facade; it was later expanded several times, and in 1931, the first historicizing wing was added, designed by the well-known master builder Martin Knoll (1888-1937).

It was turned into a hotel in 1952, originally named as the Kaiserhof and subsequently, beginning in 1967, as the Rupertihof.Rupertihof, a revival of an ancient name, was given to the castle after Rupert von Imhof, the owner after 1867. The structure was once known as the Schlosshotel St. Rupert.

Gwandhaus is the new name for the business headquarters of traditional costume producer Gössl. In 2004, the castle’s owner, Gerhard Gössl, had a ballroom erected in another wing.Gössl sold the Gwandhaus to property developer Planquadrat at the end of December 2018.The Gössl company’s traditional costume shop is located on the upper level of the ancient mansion.

A tiny home museum is attached, displaying historical clothes, handicrafts, and showpieces from the Alpine cultural region. The Gwandhaus also has a restaurant. The structure can potentially be used as a venue.
