Kösslerhäusl Heritage Museum

The Kösslerhäusl Heritage Museum is a historical attraction in Grossarltal, Austria. It is a wooden house that dates back to the 16th century, when it was inhabited by a family of miners named Kössler. The museum displays the original furniture, tools, and lifestyle of the Kössler family and other rural families of that time. Visitors can also enjoy traditional delicacies such as doughnuts and bread, baked by local farmwomen in the old smoke kitchen. The museum is open from May to October, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 pm to 5 pm. The admission fee is 4 euros for adults and 2 euros for children.

The Kösslerhäusl Heritage Museum is one of the many excursion destinations in Grossarltal, a valley that offers a rich variety of nature, culture, and tradition. Other attractions include the Valley Museum, which showcases the life and work on the alpine pastures and in the National Park; the National Park Street-Art Gallery, which features large paintings of rare birds on a stone wall; the Kunstroas, which is an art exhibition along the valley head; and the Alte Wacht, which is one of the last remaining toll barriers in the province of Salzburg.

One of the highlights of this museum is the Rauchkuchl, which features an old cobalt stove that has been well-preserved, along with a wooden smoke vent. On the upper floor, there is an exhibition showcasing a collection of antique farming tools and equipment.

The expanded cellar features an exhibition room that showcases a diverse collection of approximately 2,000 knives, along with a variety of old documents, folk costumes, and musical instruments.
