Kiesel Shopping Center

The Kiesel Shopping Center is a shopping mall located near the Salzburg Main Station in Austria. It also has three eateries that serve coffee, sandwiches, and Sri Lankan cuisine.

History and Location

The Kiesel Shopping Center was opened in 2010, as part of the urban development project “Salzburg Mitte” (Salzburg Center). The project aimed to revitalize the area between the historic district and the main station, by creating a new urban center with residential, commercial, and cultural facilities. The Kiesel Shopping Center was designed by the renowned Austrian architect Hans Hollein, who also designed the Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt and the Haas House in Vienna. The shopping center has a distinctive facade that resembles a pile of pebbles (kiesel in German), hence its name.

The shopping center is conveniently located in the Rainerstraße, a major street that connects the main station and the historic district. It is easily accessible by public transport, as there are several bus stops nearby. The shopping center also has its own underground car park, which offers 200 parking spaces for customers. The car park is open from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays, and from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm on Saturdays.
