Kaplaneikirche Gries im Sulztal

The Kaplaneikirche Gries im Sulztal is located in the Tyrol municipality of Längenfeld im Tztal. The Roman Catholic chaplaincy church is located in the Silz deanery of the Diocese of Innsbruck and is dedicated to the feast of Maria Hilf.

The church was most likely built in 1655 by Georg Keil, a master builder. The church was enlarged in 1703, and the tower was built in 1724.In 1927, a renovation was completed.

The baroque church is surrounded by a cemetery.

The north church contains buttresses on the west side, a polygonal choir, and a tower with round-arched sound windows, an octagonal structure with oval windows, and an onion dome.

The interior of the church has a three-bay nave with a five-eighths closure beneath lunette barrel vaults on an early Baroque pilaster foundation. The modest stucco bandwork was built in 1927. In 1792, Josef Anton Puellacher completed the vault paintings Trinity, Visitation of the Virgin Mary, and Four Evangelists.

The 1703 high altar was altered in 1927, and it currently exhibits the high altar portrait Mariahilf, a reproduction of Lucas Cranach’s Maria Hilf painting, which became the site of a Marian pilgrimage, as well as the statues of Ingenuin and Albuin. The antependium portrays a Visitation relief from the mid-eighteenth century. The 1776 baroque side altar displays the altarpiece Johannes Nepomuk as an intercessor.A relief of Johannes Nepomuk’s bridge collapse supports the rococo tabernacle on the antependium. The majority of the votive images are from the nineteenth century, with one from 1793 being the oldest.

Bartlme Graßmayr rings the three bells, 1697, 1777, and 1778.
