Kaiserliche Wagenburg Wien

The Kaiserliche Wagenburg Wien is a museum on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna-Hietzing that contains treasures from the Austrian imperial family’s vehicle fleet as well as well-known aristocratic houses, including Thurn and Taxis.The museum, which is a division of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, houses one of the most important collections of courtly vehicles for usage and luxury.

Over 5000 pieces are housed at the Wagenburg, the majority of which date from the Baroque period through the end of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.The wagon complex’s 161 wagons or carrying devices are made up of 101 pieces from the royal stables of the Viennese court and 50 pieces from the fleets of Austrian aristocracy.Around 60 automobiles are on exhibit in the Wagenburg’s show rooms.

  • Paintings, graphics
