Josef-Schoiswohl-Park is a park in Vienna’s Liesing neighborhood.
The Josef-Schoiswohl-Park is an 850-square-meter Beserlpark in Liesing. It is located at the crossroads of Anton-Krieger-Gasse and Silvester-Fruitl-Gasse.It may be hired through the Vienna Film Commission as a filming location. The park features benches and a short pathway in addition to meadows and trees.
On June 4, 2002, the City Council Committee for Culture of the City of Vienna dedicated the park after the diocesan bishop of Graz-Seckau, former pastor of St. Erhard in Mauer (1942-1949) and dean of the deanery in Liesing, Dr. theologian Josef Schoiswohl (1901-1991).Previously, it was known as Dr. Karl Lueger Park.Dr. Karl Lueger, like others (e.g. Dr.-Karl-Lueger-Ring), was refused this distinction because of his anti-Semitic stance throughout his life. Dr Karl Lueger, for example, arose as a right-wing populist with slogans like “Greater Vienna must not become Greater Jerusalem.”
