Johann Puch Museum Graz

The Johann Puch Museum Graz is a museum located in the city of Graz, Styria. It is situated on the original site of Johann Puch’s first work.The museum was not established as a factory museum, but rather originated from a private initiative.Since 2012, it has been located in the final remaining authentic hall of the Johann Puch factory.

Over the course of a hundred years, the progression from the bicycle to the motorbike and finally to the automobile has been a significant development. However, this narrative is now being completely rewritten as we look towards the future.Our house showcases exhibits that offer a comprehensive overview of the significant aspects of local mobility history. This history began approximately 150 years ago with the introduction of early bicycles, marking a radical shift in transportation.The large hall is easily accessible at ground level and is wheelchair accessible.The exhibits are organized into thematic groups.

You will have the opportunity to view prototypes, successful models, detailed plans, and fan articles.There are various items such as vehicles, posters, and miniature models.Additionally, there are old objects from previous industrial sectors.The century-long history of Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG is reflected in all of this, as they have played a significant role in motorizing our everyday lives.A story is currently being represented by Magna Steyr that spans from our streets and fields to outer space.

The Johann Puch Museum Graz can be described as a collection of various passions, coming together like a mosaic.It not only pays tribute to the memory of an exceptional man who went from being a Keuschler boy to becoming a manufacturer.Through its artifacts and archives, it vividly portrays over a century of mobility history, focusing on the rich traditions and industrial practices of Styria.And primarily from the perspective of the individuals responsible for it all: inventors, craftsmen, and engineers.It can be described as a form of “history from below.”
Both older Puchians and young enthusiasts have contributed loans and expertise.As a result, there is a diverse and abundant collection of bicycles, mopeds, and scooters available.The collection of motorcycles includes both pre- and post-World War II models, which are beautifully complemented by a selection of sports motorcycles owned by Franz Tantscher. Franz Tantscher, who previously worked as a mechanic for motocross world champion Harry Everts, has an impressive collection of sports motorcycles.

Here, you can find a wide range of automobiles, including early and young models, vintage and experimental vehicles. We also have cutaway models and illustrative material to enhance your viewing experience. Additionally, we have rare engines on display, showcasing the impressive four-wheel drive competence from Graz that has been sought after globally for many years.I would like to talk about mopeds.That invention could potentially be from Graz.In any case, several globally significant models of this genre of individual mobility originated from there.
