The Hesser barracks (formally Command Building Field Marshal Hess ) is a federal army barracks in St. Pölten at Schiessstattring 8-10.The complex, named for Heinrich Freiherr von Hess, is presently the seat of Lower Austria’s military command.
The current Hesser barracks were built in 1957 by combining three old Landwehr barracks.The Franz Joseph barracks, erected in 1890, and the Rainer barracks, completed two years later, are located on the Schiessstattring, while the Eugen barracks, built in 1900, are located on the Hessstraße crossing.
