Heinrich-Schwaiger-Haus

The Heinrich-Schwaiger-Haus is a mountain hut located in the Glockner Group of the Austrian Alps. It’s a Category I hut operated by the Munich Section of the German Alpine Club (DAV). Situated at an altitude of 2,802 meters, it offers a unique vantage point on the Salzburg side of the Hohe Tauern National Park, nestled between the high mountain reservoirs in Kaprun and the Grosses Wiesbachhorn mountain.

The hut serves as an ideal base camp for high-altitude tours and is a stop on the multi-day “Tauern Tour” for experienced mountaineers. It’s known for its simple, rustic charm and warm hospitality. The hut is typically open from mid-June to October, and reservations for overnight stays can be made online.
