Harry-Glück-Park is a park in Liesing, Vienna’s 23rd district.
The Harry Glück Park spans 123,000 square meters. This is the green area in and surrounding the Alt Erlaa residential park, which was created between 1973 and 1985.Walking routes in overlapping rings are put out around the park, as are children’s playgrounds with climbing towers and sandpits, soccer fields, and water fountains. There is a nice transition to the nearby local leisure area surrounding the Liesing, which makes the facility look much larger than it is.The park is broken up by the three towers of the Alt Erlaa residential park, the Kaufpark Alt Erlaa, the Alt Erlaa church, and the nearby residential complex Osramgrund.
On February 20, 2015, on the occasion of the architect of the Alt Erlaa residential park, Harry Glück’s 90th birthday, the Harry Glück Park was formally named after him.It is therefore unique in that it is one of the few traffic zones in Vienna named during the honoree’s lifetime. This was made feasible since the landowner, Gesiba, chose the name rather than the city of Vienna. As a result, the name has yet to appear on the official city map on the City of Vienna’s website.A maple tree, Harry Glück’s favorite tree, was planted as a fortunate tree in the park during the naming ceremony. The park was named to honor Harry Glück’s efforts to provide as much green space as possible for tenants of his residential complexes. The concept for the Harry-Glück-Park originated with graphic artist and local Michael Hierner, who also developed the Harry-Glück-Park logo.
