Grelle Forelle

The club located at the Danube Canal is renowned as Vienna’s premier destination for exceptional electronic music.

During the summer season, the Danube Canal becomes a vibrant and bustling destination. Popular establishments such as Flex, Badeschiff, Neni am Wasser, and Strandbar Herrmann offer a wide range of entertainment options, both indoors and outdoors. Located further upstream, near Spittelau, there is a club called Grelle Forelle that adds a refreshing touch to Vienna’s party scene.

The Grelle Forelle is a venue with two floors that offers a unique blend of House, Techno, and Minimal music. This booking does not feature mainstream artists, but instead showcases famous names from the underground scene. The club is closed throughout the week, but on Fridays and Saturdays, international DJs consistently perform to a packed crowd. Occasionally, concerts are held.

The Grelle Forelle offers ample space for dancing, with an area of 1,000 square meters. The highlights of the club include a specially designed sound system called Highlights, as well as the lighting concept created by the Viennese visualist collective Neon Golden. The lighting concept cleverly incorporates a fish motif that is also present inside the club. In the early morning hours, a small amount of daylight filters into the club through the glass bricks.

The Grelle Forelle has a couple of distinctive features: it only admits individuals who are 21 years of age or older, and it strictly prohibits photography. Finding the club on Spittelauer Lände may not be a straightforward task, but the rewards are definitely worth the effort. To stay on the right track, simply follow the fish symbols along the Danube Canal. The Spittelau subway station is the quickest route to reach your destination.
