The Fotohof, located in Salzburg’s Lehen district, is a center for modern creative photography. In addition to a museum, the Fotohof houses a wonderful library devoted to photography as well as its own publishing firm.
The establishment of Galerie Fotohof in 1981 provided a venue for the display and participation in creative photography in Salzburg. The gallery’s primary focus is on organizing and presenting exhibits and lectures, as well as extending and producing photo art publications.
The Fotohof Salzburg is first and foremost a gallery. Every year, it holds roughly seven shows in Salzburg, which are supplemented by touring exhibitions across Europe and the United States. In addition, the Fotohof includes a public photographic library with over 10,000 items, catalogs, and journals. Since 1945, this has been one of Austria’s most large and well-developed photography libraries. Verlag Fotohof Edition publishes books and catalogs with photographs by Austrian and worldwide photographers.
