Galerie im Traklhaus

Since 1973, the building on Waagplatz where prominent Salzburg literary figure Georg Trakl was born has also housed an exhibition space displaying works by Austrian and international artists.

The building at 1a Waagplatz is not only the birthplace of famed writer Georg Trakl; it is also a calm hidden refuge in the center of the bustling historic area, with its charming inner courtyard. The Salzburg State Office of Culture has been in charge of the exhibition program since 1986. “Art in the Traklhaus” performs its financial function by showcasing Salzburg artists both in Austria and abroad.

To say that the art repertory in Salzburg is vast is an understatement. Young budding artists are on display alongside well-known names. These shows are as diverse as the different types of creative expression. They include painting, drawing, and graphic arts, ceramics, sculptures, photography, films, installations, and several other forms of art items.
