Ferry Porsche Congress Center

The Ferry Porsche Congress Center (FPCC) is a versatile event center located in the municipality of Zell am See. It was completed in 2007 and is named after Ferry Porsche, the renowned automobile manufacturer and honorary citizen of Zell.

The construction project commenced in April 2006. The building was completed in July 2007 after a construction phase of 14 months.The estimated budget in the tender, excluding VAT, was 9.5 to 10.5 million euros. However, the actual construction costs ended up being around 13 million euros, which were covered by the municipality and the tourism association. Mayor Georg Maltschnig made significant contributions to the implementation of the project. He focused on revitalizing the off-seasons of the place through congress tourism and creating suitable event opportunities for the local population.

The planning of the modern building originated from the collaboration between two German architects, Perler and Scheurer, as well as Giesecke and Schetter.The building, designed as two intersecting cuboids, was constructed on a plot of land in the city center that was previously a tennis court. It is conveniently located near the town hall, train station, district court, Lake Zell, and the town square.

The building’s architecture features two spacious squares on different levels, connected by stairs. This design serves as a connection between the Brucker Bundesstraße in the west and the pedestrian and shopping zone Bahnhofsstraße in the east. The building has a total event area of 1,360 m², which can be customized as needed with flexible wall elements. It can accommodate up to 1,200 people. To ensure ample parking for visitors to the congress center, the town hall’s existing underground car park was expanded, resulting in an additional 400 parking spaces.

The Congress Center GmbH operates the congress center, which was specifically founded for this purpose. Oliver Stärz serves as the managing director of the company.
