Eboardmuseum

The Eboardmuseum showcases an assortment of electronic keyboard devices.It is located in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.Gert Prix, a math teacher, musician, and engineer, founded it in 1987.Several times throughout its existence, the museum has been hosted in different places.The museum was finally relocated to a hall on the south side of the Klagenfurt exhibition center in 2007.It is now regarded the world’s largest of its sort. The Eboardmuseum received the Austrian Museum Seal of Approval in 2010.Since March 2021, the museum has been a Google Arts & Culture partner.

On an area of 2,000 m2, the Eboardmuseum now displays roughly 2,000 exhibits.

His specialty is on electronic keyboard instruments, which span the whole progression of electronic keyboards, from the 1935 Hammond Model A to modern synthesizers like the Moog Minimoog Voyager.

Among the exhibits are numerous prototypes and one-offs ( Hohner Clavinet, Rhodes Piano, Mellotron and others) as well as original instruments from various world stars such as Keith Emerson ( Emerson, Lake & Palmer ), Rick Wakeman ( Yes ), Geoff Downes ( Asia ), Peter Wolf ( Frank Zappa ), Tangerine Dream , Ken Hensley ( Uriah Heep ), Dave Greenslade ( Colosseum ), Eddie Hardin( Spencer Davis Group ), King Crimson , George Duke , Ray Charles , Opus or the Grateful Dead .The Eboard Museum includes houses instruments from stars from German-speaking nations such as Maria Bill, Udo Jürgens, No Bros, Franco Andolfo, Eric Spitzer-Marlyn, Peter Cornelius, Ralph Siegel, and Wolfgang Ambros.

The instruments on display are not only displayed in guided tours, but visitors can also play them themselves, which is unique for an instrument museum.Professional artists and music fans from all over the world take advantage of this chance on a regular basis.Many international sample libraries have their origins in the Eboard Museum as well.

The library in the museum houses books on electronic music, with a focus on keyboards, as well as popular music and popular culture.

The Eboardmuseum’s guided tours also provide an engaging, family-friendly trip into the world of music for non-musicians or youngsters.

Every year, the Eboardmuseum offers approximately 50 live concerts.The museum’s event space is outfitted with sofas and has the feel of a living room.
