Demel K. u. K Hofzuckerbäcker

Demel, located in Vienna, is renowned as one of the most famous cafés in the city. The company proudly retains the prestigious title of “KuK Hofzuckerbäckers,” which designates it as an imperial and royal court confectioner. Demel was established in 1786 by Ludwig Dehne, a confectioner. In 1857, Christoph Demel, who was a journeyman at the time, purchased the business from Ludwig Dehne’s son.

For more than 200 years, Demel has been providing visitors with the quintessential Viennese coffee house experience. Demel, an iconic part of Viennese history, continues to enchant the present-day Vienna by preserving the magic of the past.

The interior of the space is designed in a traditional neo-rococo style, featuring mahogany furnishings and large mirrors that create a distinct atmosphere.Even Empress Elisabeth, also known as Sissi, had the privilege of being a guest at this place.The Demel is renowned for its handcrafted apple strudel.
