City market Herrenplatz

From an artistic standpoint, the city’s most confined plaza, on which the “Daily Market” has been conducted since the Middle Ages, gets its name from the adjoining mansion at Wiener Straße 12, which no longer exists.

Prof. Hans Freilinger’s “Gossiping Women” fountain has been in place since 1990.The image of the Herrenplatz is primarily influenced by various baroque residences, particularly the house at Herrenplatz 2, as well as the Marian column at the square’s center.

This little market surrounding the Marian column sells mostly flowers and plants, but also seasonal fruit and vegetables and arts and crafts. In addition, every Tuesday, the municipal market is held on Herrenplatz. On this day, the menu includes bread, cheese, meat, and meat products.
