Church of Maria Saal

Located in the charming market town of Maria Saal, the Pilgrimage Church is a significant religious site that holds great importance in the region of Carinthia.

The origins of this magnificent church can be traced back to the year 750, when Bishop Modestus dedicated the building to the Virgin Mary.

Over the years, the design of the building has undergone changes, adopting a Baroque style that is characterized by its distinctive twin bell towers.

The interior of the building is typical for its time period and aligns with what one would expect from a religious structure. It features numerous paintings and adornments that visitors can appreciate.

The ancient Carinthian Ducal Throne, where the Dukes of Carinthia once sat, is located near the church.
