The Church of Gröbming is situated on a slightly elevated level in the heart of the market town. The town’s landmark is easily recognizable due to its impressive size and towering structure.

The interior of the church is grand and majestic. The church has a four-bay nave with a prominently shaped pointed arch as the front arch. This is then followed by a two-bay choir with a similar width, featuring a distinctive five-eighth note shape. The church features a ribbed vault supported by profiled pillars. In the chancel, there are three-quarter round arches in front, arranged in a kinked row.The tracery windows in the choir have two or three lanes, with an overarching round medallion. The stained glass dates back to the second half of the 19th century. On both sides of the front arch in the eastern nave bay, there are side chapels built. The side chapel in the southern Gothic style features a star rib vault that is associated with Lassing. The northern side chapel is adorned with 18th-century baroque stucco and is elevated by a set of eight steps.

The impressive high altar, built in 1775, features statues of Saint Virgil alongside the Salzburg Cathedral, and Rupert with the salt cellar, as well as angels from the old high altar.

There is a large, well-preserved late Gothic winged altar on the north wall of the choir. It has been in this position since 1664 and also serves as a rood screen or lay altar. The winged altar, which was created around 1520 in the workshop of Lienhart Astl, underwent restoration between 1950 and 1954.The shrine, which lacks a back wall and is specifically designed to allow transmitted light, features depictions of Christ along with the Twelve Apostles. These depictions are spread across three floors. The sides of the wings display four reliefs, which include the flagellation, the crowning with thorns, the lamentation under the cross, and the resurrection. These reliefs were created by Hans Schäufelein and depicted through woodcuts. The weekday pages that have been painted also feature Passion scenes. These scenes were painted by a talented artist from the Danube School, who drew inspiration from woodcuts created by Albrecht Altdorfer.During the storm, there is a depiction of Christ on the cross, flanked by two thieves, with Mary and John also present. The predella depicts a 1665 image of St. Rosalia. The pews date back to the early 16th century.
