Catholic Parish Church Krimml St. James the Elder

The church in Krimml was first documented around 1244.During that period, Archbishop Eberhard II granted the Raitenhaslach monastery a ‘Hube bei der Kirchen in der Khrumbe’.The sanctuary, which is the oldest part of the church that still stands today, dates back to before 1250. The church’s most notable treasure is likely the Gothic Madonna from 1480. Unfortunately, during the Baroque period, it was significantly altered to accommodate a dress, resulting in extensive trimming with a hoe.An attempt to restore the original state was not made until 1934.On this occasion, the sculptor Adlhart from Hallein also created two foot angels. Two ancient bells have been carefully preserved: the weather bell, dating back to 1537, and the train bell, which dates back to 1615.
