History

Casino Baden was first established in 1934, when the Kurhaus Baden, a historic building that served as a spa and cultural center, was converted into a casino. The Kurhaus was originally built in 1824, and was designed by the famous architect Joseph Kornhäusel. The Kurhaus hosted many prominent guests, such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss, and Emperor Franz Joseph I. The casino was closed during World War II, and reopened in 1955. In 1968, the casino was renovated and expanded, and in 1995, it moved to a new location, next to the Kurpark, the largest park in Baden. The new casino building was designed by the renowned architect Günter Domenig, and features a modern and elegant style, with glass, steel, and wood elements. The casino has a total area of 12,000 square meters, and can accommodate up to 3,000 guests.
