An abandoned pedestrian underpass has become the home of a unique club. The Babenberger Passage, renowned for its futuristic interior, has become one of Vienna’s most popular discotheques.
Occasionally, the negative consequences of past planning can also yield positive outcomes. The Babenberger Passage is located on the Ringstrasse, between the Imperial Palace and the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna. It was originally designed as a pedestrian underpass. Road traffic should be able to flow smoothly and without any disruptions above ground.
The idea of the Babenberger Passage was abandoned long ago and remained unused for many years. However, it has now been revitalized and transformed into a thriving club. The atmosphere of the place is futuristic, with flexible design elements and state-of-the-art lighting systems that sometimes make you feel like you’re on a spaceship rather than in a former imperial capital.
The program offers a variety of music genres including club, dance, house, soul, and R’nB. Visitors can expect to enjoy a wide selection of funky beats. If this reminds you of Kruder & Dorfmeister or Nigel Hayes, then you’re heading in the right direction.
