Mayor Karl Lueger designed the 10,000-square-meter park in 1904.The Arthaber family commissioned the construction of a massive fountain with a clock and a relief artwork by Rudolf von Arthaber in 1905, which was unveiled in 1906.The fountain was designed by architect Karl Theodor Bach, and the relief was created by Rudolf Schröer.Arthaber is remembered on the dedication plaque as a middle-class businessman and shawl manufacturer who promoted commerce, art, viticulture, and gardening. The fountain was changed during WWII, but it was restored to its former state in 1989.
There has been a children’s outdoor pool in the park since 1930 (mayor: Karl Seitz), which was turned into the youth center “Jugendtreff Arthaberbad” in 2005/2006.There is also a children’s playground, a soccer field, and a dog zone.
