The Architekturzentrum Wien (Az W) is a museum located in Vienna’s Museumsquartier. It is envisioned as a center for exhibits, events, and research on architecture and related issues, notably architecture and urban planning from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. It is Austria’s national architecture museum.
The Federal Ministry of Education, Art, and Culture, as well as the offices of culture and urban development of Vienna, jointly run the institution.
The Az W relocated into its current site in 2001, after spending eight years in temporary exhibition locations in the Museumsquartier. It has around 1,000 m2 of display area and has hosted over 150 exhibitions, 300 events, and 600 architectural tours in its first 15 years.
