The Academy Park is now the most important local recreation facility in Wiener Neustadt.With a total area of 186 hectares, there is enough space for hours of walking.

The Academy Park features extensive collections of antique wood.There are a few trees in the population that are over 100 years old.The vast ancient wood stocks provide shelter and breeding chances for a significant number of species.The Academy Park also provides a safe haven for deer, rabbits, and pheasants.

The Kehrbach runs directly through the Academy Park.This 16-kilometer-long man-made canal was originally intended to fill the castle moat.

The pioneer pond is situated in the heart of the academy park.The inflow is achieved through a short canal that branches out from the Mühlbach.Its moniker derives from its previous purpose: pioneering technological training.The pioneer pond is now filled with fish and serves as a nesting habitat for wild ducks and other waterfowl.

As you enter Theresienplatz, you will notice the Maria Theresa Monument directly across from the Academy.It features the main figure as well as four other allegorical characters representing religion, justice, wisdom, and strength.The statues are bronze casts, and the pedestal is polished Mauthausen stone.The monument was unveiled on August 31, 1862, 110 years after the Academy was founded, in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I and other dignitaries.The two fountains on either side of the monument were built about the same time.
