Spallerhof
Spallerhof is a district in the south of Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. It bears the name of an old farmhouse located nearby. With around 12,000 inhabitants, Spallerhof is a residential district. Its boundaries are the Mühlkreis motorway, Willingerstraße, Salzburger Straße and the Westbahn.
The demand for housing for steel industry workers and displaced people from St. Peter led to high density of the Spallerhof in 1938. Architect Herbert Rimpl designed the Stuttgart school-style houses at the Spallerhof and the company of WAG housing was founded to build them. Modern conveniences of bathrooms and toilets in homes have improved the quality of life of residents.
In 2014, the former statistical districts of Wankmüllerhofviertel, Spallerhof and Neue Welt merged to form the district of Spallerhof.
Spallerhof is primarily a residential neighborhood, although it is also home to some commercial activities. Companies located in the district include the Gästehäuser Spallerhof, the Linz Institute for Economic Development and the Linz AG Technology Center. In addition, nearby there are public transport and a shopping center.
The Spallerhof offers a range of facilities to meet the needs and interests of guests as well as residents. Among them are:
