Bindermichl-Keferfeld

Bindermichl-Keferfeld - Linz, Austria Travel Guide

Bindermichl-Keferfeld was founded in 2014 by the merger of the former districts of Bindermichl, Keferfeld and Bergern. The name of the district is derived from the former Bindermichl farm and the name of the Keferfeld estate. Bindermichl was originally referenced as “Pintenmichel” in 1382, which translates to “barrel Michael”. The name comes from a tavern that once stood on the farm grounds. Keferfeld was initially documented as “Keverfelt” in 1447, meaning “field of beetles”. The name refers to the number of insects present in the area.

Bindermichl-Keferfeld offers a variety of attractions and amenities for both visitors and locals. Some of these include:

  • St. Michael Parish Church was erected in a modern design in 1964. The church features a unique triangular design and a 42 meter high tower. The church is dedicated to the district’s patron saint, Saint Michael the Archangel.
  • The parish church of Sainte-Thérèse was completed in 1968 according to a post-war model. The church is round in shape and has a 36 meter high tower. The church pays homage to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, patron saint of missions.
