Parish Church of St. Lawrence
Nestled in the Pongau region, the Roman Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius is a pillar of the Kleinarl district. Led by Bishop Sylvester of Chiemsee and Vicar Thomas Kirchbichler of Radstadt, this Gothic church dedicated to Saint Lawrence has a rich history and its inauguration took place on August 24, 1443.
The church has experienced difficulties over the years, notably with the Kreuzsalerbach, which caused significant damage and almost destroyed it in 1730. Despite the difficulties, some things – including the portal – remained intact. Thanks to the churches in Altenmarkt and Wagrain, the church was not only restored during a reconstruction project in 1775, but also expanded to the east. The rededication by Prince Archbishop Franz Albert Eder on August 10, 1884 marks a turning point in the history of the church.
Kleinral was formerly a branch church of Altenmarkt until 1487, then of Wagrain until 1739 and received parish freedom in 1891. This change underlined the changing importance and function of St. Lawrence Church in the district .
Pastor Josef Seiwald led a remarkable renovation in 1905 that revitalized the church. Then another wave of renovations led by Pastor Johann Gelb in 1952 further improved the church’s reputation.
Between 1984 and 1985, the church underwent a phase of redesign, which included a contemporary extension, masterfully carried out by Heinz Tesar. This expansion brought modern ideas that matched the old design and helped preserve the past of St. Lawrence Church.
Jägersee
Originally called Eilsee, the Jägersee is a man-made lake tucked away in the lovely Salzburg area, more especially at the head of the Kleinarler valley in the municipality of Kleinarl. Rising 1099 meters in the Radstädter Tauern, its formation began at least in the 17th century using the natural threshold created by Jägergraben on the right and mudflow cone on the left side.

Built in 1718 under the Archbishops of Salzburg, the ancient Jägerhaus am See has been owned privately by the Nesselrode family from the 20th century. Tappenkarsee

Families with children especially enjoy the easy and family-friendly outdoor experience offered by the climb from Jägersee to Tappenkarsee, which spans two lakes.
