Districts & Neighborhoods in Hermagor-Pressegger See

Hermagor-Pressegger See is composed of eighty-six localities and fifteen cadastral communities overall. There are several cadastral related groups:

  • Tröpolach (Slovene: Droboltje or Dobropolje) is the biggest cadastral community by both area and population with 535 residents and 36.7 km². It comprises Schlanitzen, Sonnenalpe Nassfeld, Sonnleitn, Rattendorf, Jenig, and Tröpolach. It stands five kilometers west of Hermagor. It mostly serves as the access to the Nassfeld ski resort and has a cable car station connecting to the Madritschen mountain.
  • Egg (Slovene: Brdo) is a cadastral community with 178 people and 23.9 km² 4 km south of Hermagor. Included are all of Egg, Eggforst, Kreuth ob Mellweg, Latschach, and Postran.The most unique features of the area are the mediaeval fortification The Egg Castle, which burned to the ground in 1690, and the typical farmhouses there.
  • Görtschach (Slovene: Goriče) is a cadastral community of 173 people living on 11.9 km² east of Hermagor. It include the towns of Wittenig, Kraß, Kraschach, and Görtschach.This spot, on the southern bank of the Pressegger See 1, offers a public beach and camping area.
  • Six kilometers east of Hermagor lies the cadastral community Guggenberg. It boasts 34 inhabitants and 8.9 km². Included among it are Zuchen, Kühwegboden, Guggenberg, and Kühweg. In this rural area sits meadows, forests, and a view of the Dobratsch mountain.
  • Hermagor’s town core, a component of the cadastral community, Covering 6.4 km², Hermagor (Slovene: Šmohor, earlier also Trg) boasts 1,527 residents. < Among the noteworthy buildings in this ancient and cultural center of the area are Saint Hermagoras parish church, town hall, Möderndorf Castle, Gailtal Museum, and World of Mountains and Lakes visitor center.
  • Slovaker: Covering an area of 7.8 km² and with 247 residents, Khünburg, often Kimburg, is a cadastral village 2 kilometers north of Hermagor. It comprises Podlanig, Kreuth ob Möschach, Braunitzen, and Khünburg.Once the residence of the Counts of Ortenburg and Celje, Khünburg Castle was mostly destroyed in 1809.
  • Situated on 5.9 km², Mitschig is a cadastral village of 79 persons 5km north of Hermagor in Slovene (Mičiče or Semičiče). It covers Förolach, Mitschig, and Kameritsch among the towns.Agricultural area with view of the Reißkofel mountain range.
  • Möderndorf, often Modra vas in Slovene, is a cadastral settlement 4 km northeast of Hermagor. Covering 9.1km², it boasts 223 residents. Included are Mellweg, Nampolach, Möderndorf, and Mellach. Steep, with vineyards and orchards, the site boasts a Saint Margaret Gothic church.
  • Found 7.6 miles northeast of Hermagor, Möschach is a cadastral community with 48 people living on 3.6km². Part of it are the towns of Kreuth ob Rattendorf and Möschach.In this remote area surrounded by farmland and forests is a chapel honoring Saint Anthony of Padua.
  • Situated 2.4 km² from Hermagor, the cadastral village of Nampolach (Slovene: Napole) boasts 27 residents. Part of it is the town of Nampolach.The isolated area features a few farms, and there is a chapel dedicated to Saint John the Baptist.
  • Located 7 km west of Hermagor, the cadastral community of Rattendorf (Slovene: Radnja vas) boasts 343 residents dispersed over 18.5 km². Part of it are Schlanitzen, Rattendorf, Guggenberg, and Kameritsch. This mountainous location is connected to the Nassfeld ski resort by a cable car station, and alpine pastures and forests abound in the surrounds.
  • Comprising the settlements of Vellach, Paßriach, and Podlanig with 243 persons and an area of 14.2 km², Vellach (Slovene: Bela) is a cadastral community situated 8 km southeast of Hermagor.On the northern coast of the Pressegger See, it boasts a water park as well as a nature reserve.
  • Situated three kilometers west of Hermagor, the cadastral community of Watschig (Slovene: Vačiče) contains 129 residents dispersed over 6.7 km². It include settlements such Watschig, Jenig, and Sonnenalpe Nassfeld.This location is ideal for visitors with its hotels and guesthouses as well as ski lift connecting to Nassfeld ski resort.
  • Neudorf (Slovene: Genialovizo) is a cadastral community of 271 people scattered over 10.8 km² two kilometers east of Hermagor. It includes the villages of Neudorf, Görtschach, and Presseggersee.This region has residential buildings, a golf course, and a train station.
  • Zuchen, Slovene: Suha, is a cadastral village seven kilometers east of Hermagor. It covers 0.7km² and has three residents. Zuchen is a town included in it.A tiny chapel honoring Saint Nicholas rests among a sparsely inhabited space.
