Skiing is a way of life in Grossarl rather than merely a sport. The first skiers in Grossarl slid down the slopes with wooden skis and poles in the late 1800s. Ever since, skiing has developed into a worldwide sport that draws skiers of all skill levels. Including more than 760 kilometers of slopes and 270 lifts, Grossarl is a part of the Ski Amadé network, the biggest ski area in Europe. Additionally located in Grossarl is the Grossarltal-Dorfgastein ski area, which is linked by a panoramic gondola to the Gastein Valley. All ability levels can enjoy the 80 kilometers of easy to tough slopes in the ski area. Ski Terrain and Slopes
Skiing of all abilities and tastes is catered to by the varied and adaptable terrain of Grossarl. There are eighty kilometres of slopes in all, of which 26 are blue, 47 are red, and seven are black. Although the snowfall and temperature may cause variations, Grossarl’s ski season typically begins in late November and finishes in mid-April. When the snow is at its best and the days are longer and brighter, January through March are the ideal months to go skiing in Grossarl. As long as you are aware of the chances and difficulties associated with the weather, skiing in Grossarl is nevertheless feasible and pleasant all year round. - Early season: From late November to December, the early season skiing in Grossarl can be a joyful and fulfilling event. - Snowpark Großarltal: On the Kreuzhöhe hill lies the huge and varied terrain park known as Snowpark Großarltal. There are four lines total, each with a different degree of challenge and assortment of obstacles including rails, boxes, kickers, and jibs. A sun deck, barbecue, and music system are also features of the chill out area. The snowpark is regularly used for events and competitions and is daily shaped and maintained.
- Funslope Großarltal: Situated on the Familienabfahrt slope is this easy-to-access terrain park. Should the snowfall be ever less than ideal, Grossarltal has an answer: There is around 2 hectares of snowmaking-capable trail at Grossarl’s “Reitwiese”. This is a great practice location for novices, intermediate skiers, and ambitious cross-country competitors and makes it possible to create beautiful cross-country loops.
Grossarl Loipe
Enjoy the stunning countryside and begin your cross-country journey right here in Grossarl. With no noteworthy rises along the way, this XC route connects Grossarl to the Kösslerhäusl heritage museum.
Start point is the “Reitwiese.” The Kösslerhäusl is reached by following the stream toward Hüttschlag. Use of both skate and classic methods is possible in this part. A little steeper stretch crosses the Oflek after passing the Kösslerhäusl. Could one walk to this place in around fifteen minutes? Hüttschlag Loipe
Just beyond Hüttschlag’s town center begins the Hüttschlag Loipe. There are no significant rises along the valley trail that leads to Wolfau. Note that only classic skiing technique is appropriate for this trail. You have to cross the road and head uphill toward Karteisdörfl after leaving the sports grounds. After that, you’ll come upon a downhill section that leads to the paths that round the Aschaustüberl.
You’ll ski mostly downhill on your route to Hüttschlag’s valley head. After making a big circle that goes near Stockham Farm, the trail climbs. Thereafter, a downward stretch will take you to the valley’s entrance. Kindly follow same route back.
You will find various loops with a range of possibilities next to the Aschaustüberl.Skiers with ambition sometimes choose to use the skating method to climb a steep hill. Then, after a number of switchbacks, they descend again. More leisurely skiers, however, usually favor the trail that runs right next to the creek. The kids always like taking part in the cross-country obstacle course.
Night trails
Certain days after dusk, cross-country paths in Grossarl and Hüttschlag are lit. Approximately 2.5 kilometres long, the night trail in Grossarl starts at the Reitwiese. Skiers can use it Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
